The advice seemed to work well until the 2nd day of Kev's the trip when he had 2 crashes within 100 metres !
Not that sensationalising H's misfortune is something I enjoy - as evidence it's a little known fact that up until now i have kept secret H's almost daily battle with the door lock !
Yes that straightforward, non intrusive, taken for granted activity that we perform every day - opening / locking the front door ! Today though was a classic !
Set for our day out and waiting at the car for what seemed like ages an exasperated H finally walked up to me saying " Litchy I'm stuffed if i can work out how to lock the door, the damned key doesn't even fit the key hole" !
Taking the key ring off H I walked back over to our cabin and tried the key that I had in my hand locked the cabin door going back to H saying did you try both keys on the key ring ... his reply " what there were 2 keys " ???
After his stirling effort yesterday Kev took initial control of our car as we took on the stunning Nasjonale Gamlie Strynefelsjvegen (try saying that after a few beers!) an amazing 27 km road that takes in switchbacks, lakes, waterfalls and mountain views and is only open for a few month's of the year.
Stopping almost every 100 metres we emersed ourselves in one stunning landscape after another.
Back out on the main road we headed on what is called the panorama road down to the UNESCO listed Gerainger Fjiord !
If the first road was a gem then this road was gold. Again impossibly stunning views as we climbed then descended on even tighter switchbacks ,(yes there were even damned tourist coaches on it) down to the magnificent Gerainger Fjiord.
We parked on the waterfront with an enormous P&O cruise in the foreground and its disembarked passengers crowding the few availba cafes.l
Kex & I decided on taking a 90 minute boat tour of the beautiful fjiord on a magic sunny day. The tour gave us an up close close up and personal some of the amazing waterfalls and precipitously positioned farms where in one case it was reported that the farmers children were roped together to prevent them falling over a cliff.
With our fjiord cruise done it was time to climb back up uo the switchbacks where we stopped briefly midway for a signature view of the fjiord as well as a horrifying view of some stupid parent poised on an overhanging ledge with a sheer drop
What was horrifying was that the husband and wife were allowing their 3-4 old child to run around on the same ledge unattended while they are took photos - absolutely crazy !
With a days fill of breathtaking scenery we journeyed back to Stryn through a series of narrow road tunnels where approaching trucks caused me to slow almost to a stop to ensure adequate clearance !
At Stryn we refuelled stocked up in provision before journeying to our cabin in the sky on the fjiord.
The tunnels heading to the cabin are unique in that 2 of them are only wide enough for one car meaning that when confronted you have to work out in the dim lights who's going forward or backward !
A top day all round !

Mike the photos are stunning, thank you for sharing.MM
