With our rear ends tender after our first day back in the saddle it was on to the road with laid back traffic until we joined the main Oslo - Bergen road where traffic picked up considerably.
Nearing Nyersund we decided to head off road along an ominously signed bike trail called the adventure path ! After climbing on dirt we took to a forest trail that while scenic soon had us (at least Kev and I) pushing our bikes uphill on the loose sandy and rocky scree.
With battle scars still fresh from the Parenzana and a shortage of reputable blood donors in the next town H took the downhills so conservatively that a Norwegian slug parade overtook him.
Eventually on something resembling bitumen we made our way to lovely Fla a stop off point in winter to the nearby ski resorts.
Having to resort to Maccas while H was busy catching up with cousin Olaf (see pic) we had time to reflect on the fact that despite it being lunch time we still had nearly 80 kms to go !
Returning to the main road we journeyed towards Gol passing numerous lakes on a lovely journey down the Hallingdal valley - so much like Austria and Switzerland save for the extensive fir tree lined hills.
With H rapidly running out of fuel (yes it was only a banana "sarnie" for lunch ! ) we stopped at Gol to stock up our overnight food supply with our cabin still some 23 kms away !
At this point D Mike steamed ahead while the two Aussies battled strong headwinds, an uphill gradient and the fact that neither of us knew where our cabin or destination was ... now a slight problem with D Mike nowhere in sight.
With H mumbling something like I'm too old to do consecutive 125 +km plus days we finally caught up with D Mike (after a phone call) who directed us to our cabin just off the main road in Al.
D Mike had promised us a stepdown from our luxury accommodation of last night and he delivered - instead of our own rooms we were bunked together which was not as big a drama as the fact that we did not have any cooking equipment !
With the Aussie boys wondering whether cannibalism was illegal in Norway D Mike saved the day rustling up a dinner comprising of bread and soup !
Anyway we were too tired to moan and found ourselves nodding off without drama to contemplate tomorrow's journey on the Rallervergen Norway's iconic railway trail
